TORRINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) - Sex assault allegations have been filed against two Torrington football players, and there are reports of teens bullying the alleged victim on Twitter.

18-year-olds Edgar Gonzalez and Joan Toribio were arrested last month (February).

Gonzalez, arrested February 20th, faces charges of second degree sexual assault, illegal sexual contact and risk of injury.

Toribio, arrested two days later, faces similar charges.

According to the Torrington Register Citizen newspaper , dozens of students have used social media to taunt the 13-year-old girl, calling her names and even bullying other students who have come to the victim's defense.

Toribio is scheduled to be in court April 23. Gonzalez is scheduled to be back in court on April 2.

Gonzalez was arrested in May of 2012 on charges of robbery, assault and risk of injury. He has pleaded not guilty in that case. The Register Citizen reports he was allowed to play football last season even though the coach knew of the felony robbery arrest.
