GROTON, Conn. (AP) - An official with a small aviation company says it has canceled
plans to offer air service between Connecticut and Nantucket
because of poor ticket sales.
PublicCharters.com was to begin service from Groton-New
London Airport to Nantucket on Thursday, but didn't. The plan was
to offer flights Thursdays through Sundays from June to September,
with roundtrip airfare starting at $199.
Mike Gallagher is the chief financial officer of
PublicCharters, a service of Aviation Technologies Inc. in Avoca,
Pa., near Scranton. He says only 22 tickets had been sold for the
entire season, so the company scrapped the service.
The options for reaching Nantucket include taking the ferry
from Hyannis, Mass., or flying from New York, Boston or New
Bedford, Mass.
