PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A Pittsfield man has been sentenced to up to five years in prison after pleading guilty to his role in the robbery of a city credit union.

Brandon Wood pleaded guilty Monday to unarmed robbery just before his trial was scheduled to start. His lawyer says his client decided to plead guilty because it allows him to receive a concurrent sentence for a Boston bank robbery days after the Berkshire County robbery.

Prosecutors say the 32-year-old Wood and a woman conspired to rob the Greylock Federal Credit Union on March 30 and had Wood's grandfather drive them to the bank. The grandfather had no idea what was going on. The Berkshire Eagle reports they got away with nearly $3,000.

Authorities say they robbed a Boston bank three days later.
