WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - West Springfield police arrested the man they believed robbed a Riverdale Street bank, after finding him in a nearby hotel.
Police Capt. Daniel Spaulding told 22News that Troy Dahlquist, 43, of Billerica was arrested for the robbery of the TD Bank branch at the Riverdale Shops on Sunday.
According to Spaulding, the suspect entered the bank at around 1:11 P.M. (TD Bank is one of the few open on Sundays) and handed the teller a note implying that he had a gun.
The teller gave the suspect cash, and he ran out of the bank, got into a car parked outside the nearby Burger King, and drove away. Witnesses told police they saw him dropping cash as he ran to the car.
According to Spaulding, witnesses also gave police a description of the getaway car, and a partial plate number.
A car matching their description was found later, parked at the Olympia Ice Skating Rink on Capital Drive. Inside the car, police found money, as well as the hat and sunglasses the suspect was wearing, and the pad that the note was written on.
Police found Dahlquist across the street at the Comfort Inn, and arrested him for the robbery.
Dahlquist was arraigned Monday in Springfield District Court.
