(WWLP) - You must obtain a PERMIT for any open burning from your local fire department. The season runs from January 15 through May 1 annually.
Agawam
You must call the Fire Department at (413) 786-2662 after 9:30 a.m. on the day you wish to burn to obtain permission. You DO NOT need to come to the Fire Department to pick up the permit. For open burning regulations visit www.agawam.ma.us
Amherst
"Get your burning permits now!" Don't wait until the day you want to burn as there may be a delay in issuing permits on busy days, especially weekends. Permits are good until May 1st.
To obtain your permit you will need to come to the Fire Department Business Office, 68 North Pleasant Street, to pay the $25.00 permit fee during one of the following times:
Monday - Fridays: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Weekends & Holidays: 8 a.m. to Noon

The Fire Department administers the issuance of open burning permits. There is no fee for permit. Hadley
A permit application must be submitted to the Fire Chief 24 hours prior to the date of burn with permit fee. (413) 584-0874

Ludlow
A permit must be obtained at the Fire Department , 574 Center Street. Permits are good for that day and are only issued with weather permitting. There is no fee for permits.

You must obtain a permit from the Fire Department, 12 Walnut Street. There is no permit fee for the season. Please call (413) 283-3861 x 157 between 9 a.m. and Noon on the day you wish to burn.

Southampton
Permits are issued at the Fire Station on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Permits are $10.00 for each weekend you burn.
