SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Investigators have determined that a Christmas Eve fire in Springfield's Upper Hill neighborhood was intentionally set.

Aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner Dennis Leger told 22News that the fire at 187 Northampton Avenue was arson.

The fire started in the basement, and spread to the rest of the home. Six people were left homeless.

Leger could not say whether any suspects have been identified, but did confirm that no arrests have been made.

Leger said the fire is not connected to another fire on Northampton Avenue earlier in December, which was determined to be electrical in nature.
