CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - The State Fire Marshal's office is helping Chicopee firefighters investigate the cause of a house fire in the city's Fairview section early Thursday afternoon.

Deputy Fire Chief James McInerney told 22News that crews were called to the light green ranch-style home at 119 Lukasik Street after noon time on Thursday. Heavy smoke could be seen pouring from the building, which was heavily damaged.

McInerney said that no one was home at the time of the fire, but that the family will not be able to go back home at this time.

Along with the Fire Marshal's Office, the Chicopee Fire Department's Fire Prevention Bureau is looking into the cause of the fire.
