City's 2nd murder victim identified as Jimmie Acevedo, 42, of Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A 42-year old Springfield resident has been identified as the city’s 2nd homicide victim of 2013.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that Jimmie Acevedo was killed after being shot multiple times on Monmouth Street early Wednesday morning.

According to Delaney, officers found the wounded man lying near the street just before 6:00 A.M. He was taken to Baystate Medical Center, but died a short time later.

No information on suspects has been released at this time.

Acevedo was a neighborhood resident, who lived on nearby Edmund Wynne Circle.
