Edwin Goitia convicted of murdering 6 month-old son

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - 28 year old Edwin Goitia was convicted of first-degree murder Wednesday for the 2009 death of his 6-month old son.

The verdict was reached Wednesday afternoon at Hampden County Superior Court.

Goitia was convicted of killing his son, Naiden Goitia, in 2009 at a Chicopee apartment.

A first-degree murder conviction carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without a possibility of parole in Massachusetts.

The baby's mother, Amanda Arsenault, is also facing a murder charge. Her case is still pending.
