SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A Springfield District Court judge has denied bail to two men charged with the murder of 19 year-old Keough Collins , who was killed in what police call a “friendly fire” incident.

Judge William Boyle ordered 19 year-old Julien Holly and 18 year-old Ashawnee Duke held without bail on murder and other charges.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that Collins’ death came about as a result of a plan to commit a robbery over drugs. On December 2, Delaney says that Holly, Duke, and Collins had planned to rob a man on Robert Dyer Circle. Duke and Collins tried to rob the victim at gunpoint, but the victim resisted, and Duke fired, hitting the robbery victim in the leg and Collins in the head.

Holly is alleged to have been the driver of the getaway car.

In court on Friday morning, Holly’s attorney asked for bail, saying that Collins was his client’s best friend.

Collins' killing marks the 12th homicide of 2012 in the city of Springfield.
