2 arrested for convenience store robberies in Springfield, West Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Police have arrested a pair of suspects in two convenience store robberies in Springfield and West Springfield Tuesday night.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that Charles Falcon, 29, and Isaisa Mena, 26, both of Springfield, were arrested on Edwards Street following the robberies.

According to Delaney, around 9:15, police received a call about an armed robbery at the 7-Eleven store at 425 Springfield Street. Police were told that the store was robbed by a Hispanic man armed with a handgun. Officers reviewed the store’s surveillance video and took down the robber’s description.

Less than an hour later, a Cumberland Farms store in West Springfield was robbed at gunpoint. Witnesses told police that the suspect was seen making a getaway in a gold Nissan Maxima sedan, the complete plate number of which they were able to provide. West Springfield police notified surrounding departments to be on the lookout for the vehicle.

A short time later back in Springfield, Delaney says an officer saw the same car driving down Spring Street. She followed the Nissan onto Salem and Edwards Streets, and radioed for backup. Falcon and Mena were arrested after the car was pulled over, and Delaney says officers recovered money stolen from both robberies.

Falcon, the car’s driver, is the suspect in the West Springfield robbery. Mena is accused of committing the robbery in Springfield. Both men are charged with armed robbery and scheduled to be arraigned at Springfield District Court.
