SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A thief who held-up a South End coffee shop wasn’t able to make off with much money from the register, so he ended up taking from the tip jar, police say.
Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that around 8:00 A.M. Wednesday, the suspect walked into the Starbucks on East Columbus Avenue and handed the cashier a note demanding money. The suspect implied that he had a weapon, but didn’t show one.
Delaney says the suspect got a small amount of cash from the register, and took additional money from the tip jar before getting away.
The robber is described as a black man in his 20’s. He was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and a jean coat.
