HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - Police in Holyoke say that two men arrested following a robbery and car chase on Friday are brothers.
Lt. Matthew Moriarty told 22News that Robert and Jamie Asselin of Chicopee were arrested by police after being pulled over in Easthampton Friday afternoon.
Moriarty said that around 1:30 Friday afternoon, Robert Asselin approached the victim near the Honey Land Farms store at 636 Main Street and told the victim that he was a police officer, and that that he should place his hands on his car. It was then that he took the victim’s possessions, before driving off with his brother in a gray Mazda Millenia.
A description of the car was given, and an off-duty Holyoke officer spotted the car and followed it, until marked cruisers could join the pursuit. Moriarty says that the two finally pulled over in Easthampton, where they were arrested.
Both men are charged with unarmed robbery, while Robert Asselin faces additional charges, including impersonating a police officer, operating to endanger, and driving the wrong way down a one-way street. Jamie Asselin faces an additional cocaine possession charge.
