Victim hurt in carjacking at Mass Pike service plaza

LEE, Mass. (WWLP) - The victim of a carjacking at the Lee Plaza on the Massachusetts Turnpike has been taken to the hospital.

State Police Trooper Thomas Murphy told 22News that the incident happened around 6:00 Friday morning at the eastbound travel plaza, located between Exits 1 and 2.

Murphy told 22News that a driver in the parking lot was approached by a black man who wanted him to hand over his keys. The driver refused to hand over his keys, and was struck by the suspect.

The suspect then got away in the vehicle, a black 2002 Honda Accord with New York license plates.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where the extent of his injuries is not known at this time.

Murphy says that the suspect is described as a black man in his late 20’s or early 30’s. He is about 6’ tall and weighs about 190 lbs.
