BIG BEAR, Cali. (NBCNC) - Investigators are sifting through the ruins of a burned-out California cabin where they believe accused murderer and former Los Angeles police officer Chris Dorner made his final stand.

A man believed to be Dorner barricaded himself inside the Big Bear cabin Tuesday afternoon after a shoot-out with San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies and a California Fish and Wildlife officer.

The home went up in flames shortly after police lobbed tear gas canisters into the structure.

Dorner became the subject of an intense manhunt after he allegedly posted a lengthy manifesto against the LAPD on Facebook before setting off on a killing spree that claimed four lives.
