ATHOL, Mass. (WWLP) - Firefighters from several departments in western and central Massachusetts had to be called in to fight a massive fire at a former toy factory in the Worcester County town of Athol.

Athol Police Sergeant Christopher Casella told 22News it happened around 7:30 pm near 90 Canal Street.

Fire departments from several surrounding towns were called in to help. Police also blocked off streets around the fire.

The fire at the former N.D. Cass. Co toy factory burned for around two hours.

The family who owns the building told 22News that part of it was converted into an antique consignment shop, but they were using the rest for storage and everything inside was destroyed. "I had a lot of stuff in there, a lot of family stuff, you know I had my tractor in there, I had a bobcat in there, we had a pickup, you know stuff like that," said owner Rick Sluder.

There is still no word on how this massive fire started.
