CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Our dense fog advisory has been canceled, but patchy dense fog still continues in parts of western Massachusetts.
Visibility less than a quarter mile will make driving difficult through mid morning. Fog will slowly thin through the morning leading to mostly sunny skies by midday.
Fog has formed in some areas where temperatures are below freezing. This has lead to freezing fog which can create a very thin layer of ice on surfaces.
* Impacts...drivers should be prepared for reduced visibility overnight...which may be as low as zero in spots. Temperatures near freezing may also result in patchy black ice on roadways.
Precautionary/preparedness actions... A dense fog advisory is issued when dense fog will result in hazardous driving conditions. Drivers should slow down and allow room between vehicles. Also be alert for icy spots...especially on ramps...bridges and overpasses.
