(WWLP) -
A High Wind Warning remains in effect for Berkshire County until 6:00 P.M.

As of 3:40 Thursday morning, winds are sustained between 20 and 40 MPH with gusts up to 50 MPH. Winds began to die down as the morning went on, but remained breezy. A High Wind Warning for Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties was allowed to expire at 9:00, but not before the high wind gusts caused tree and power line damage; closing roads and knocking out power to thousands.

As of 10:30 A.M., the Western Massachusetts Electric Company outage map shows power outages in several communities, with a total of 700 customers without power. That is down from more than 3,000 at one point in the morning. The largest outages are in Springfield and Gill.

National Grid's outage map shows 2,046 western Massachusetts customers without power, with the largest outages being in Sheffield, Belchertown, Wilbraham, Brimfield, and Wales.
