I Team: Hazard on the Highway

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The 22News I-Team's cameras captured dozens of drivers breaking the law on I-91 in Springfield.

You may have had to dodge those drivers who merge off of the I-291 exit onto I-91, then immediately cross two lanes of traffic to jump off of exit 7 heading towards downtown Springfield. The short time they have to cross over forces them to slow down, or stop completely, which creates a serious hazard on that busy stretch of highway.

Four years ago, 22News highlighted this danger zone in a report, and so police painted "stay in lane" on the pavement. But, as our cameras captured, the painted pavement doesn't appear to be enough of a deterrent. We'll reveal our findings, and show you what public safety officials have to say about them.

Watch this 22News I-Team report on Tuesday at 6pm.
