SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - MGM Springfield is now holding private presentations inside homes and the co-chair of Springfield's Casino site committee attended one.
A MGM spokesperson told 22News, Spirit of Springfield President Judy Matt hosted a private function in her home to hear a MGM Springfield presentation about two weeks ago.
Paula Meara is the co-chair of Springfield casino site committee.
She was there.
A MGM spokesperson told 22News MGM is reaching out to people in the city who want to learn about their project.
These are similar to a neighborhood meeting, but on a more personal level. Meara told 22News she doesn't believe there was any ethical conflict.
"I'm available to go to any meetings where I can learn information", says Meara.
(You saw no difference from a private event versus a neighborhood meeting?)
"There was not a group of people that came from the committee, it was just me", says Meara.
City Council President and casino site committee co-chair Jimmy Ferrera told 22News that he has no issues with Meara's attendance and is expecting a report from her on that presentation at their next meeting.
MGM Springfield has a picture from the event posted on its Facebook page. MGM says that was the second private function it attended in a home and has three more scheduled as of now.
