SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The FBI arrested two more Western Massachusetts men to face charges in the murder of reputed Springfield mob boss Al Bruno.
They have kept a low profile since a hit was carried through on reputed mob boss Al Bruno in 2003.
Ty Geas of Westfield and Felix Tranghese of East Longmeadow are now under arrest and Friday they faced charges in connection with Bruno's murder and a slew of other organized crime related charges.
"He's charged with a variety of counts, a salad dressing if you will, everything from murder to racketeering, said Tranghese’s attorney Michael Joseph.
Cameras are not allowed in federal court, both men did appear with their lawyers, neither had much to say but after their charges were read both were lead out in handcuffs.
Four other men are already facing charges for the alleged hit on Bruno. Ty Geas' brother Freddy has been charged with recruiting Frankie Roche who pleaded guilty to gunning down the mob boss for $10,000.
Investigators believe Anthony Arillota, thought to be the next in line after Bruno, organized the hit.
"Mr. Tranghese, along with others are victims of people who are in trouble, will say anything to anybody to get out of trouble thus falsely incriminate these people just to get out of a jam themselves,” said Geas’s attorney David Kelley.
The indictment out of the Southern District of New York also charges Ty Geas with helping to plot the murder of mob associate Gary Westerman. He disappeared in November of 2003, his body was found this year in Agawam.
Both defendants agreed to be held without bail. They are in the custody of the federal marshals.
They are expected to be arraigned in New York later this month.
