Economy affects holiday travel

The holiday travel period gets underway this week, but it appears that the economy may be putting the brakes on some of that travel.

An AOL Travel/MapQuest survey found that one third of those questioned in the survey will travel during the holiday period.

64% of those who plan to travel said that the economy has had an effect on their holiday plans with many planning not to travel as far or shortening their trips.

Eric Williams of Springfield told 22News that he will be one of those who aren't traveling over the holiday season.

He blames the economy for that.
