SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - There was a touching tribute today during one graduation ceremony.
This afternoon, the class of 2010 from Cathedral High School in Springfield received their diplomas.
The graduation took place at the high school.
It was a happy and tearful time for the graduating seniors.
In March they lost one of their own.
17 year old Conor Reynolds was fatally stabbed to death at a birthday party.
On Friday, Conor Reynolds' parents received their son's diploma amid a standing ovation from those in attendance.
The ceremony did have a hitch though, just before its slated start the fire alarms went off about 10:45a.m.
Springfield Fire Department spokesman, Dennis Leger told 22News that a motor overheated in the building's ventilation system, setting off the alarms. He said there was no fire.
Leger said the evacuation lasted close to an hour, delaying the start of the graduation.
