Springfield, Mass. (WWLP) - Unlike parts of the North End, people who live near Chapin Terrace are not used to violence.
Anna Andino has lived on the street for 15 years; she has never had problems with crime.
She told 22News, "It's a quiet neighborhood, we hear about it around but not here."
Early Saturday morning gun shots interrupted her quiet
neighborhood.
Police then found a man shot multiple times inside a car.
The violence came a little too close to home for one family, some of the bullets ended up in their yard, but at least one or two hit their home, thankfully missing the woman inside.
The 84-year old woman told 22News, “I heard 4 shots like boom boom boom… thank god that I am blessed, he takes care of me."
Baystate Medical Center is just feet from where the shooting happened. Employees were also shocked to find a crime scene as they headed into work.
Still, not everyone was surprised by the violence in the area.
Joshua Doig lives nearby, he told 22News, “I just recently had my house robbed, I live on Bancroft, I was in the hospital for three and a half weeks, and they stole everything. I don’t go up that way and now you see why."
