LEE, Mass. (WWLP) - A 22News follow up now from the Berkshire County town of Lee where a man was arrested Thursday night after allegedly shooting his adult stepson.

Berkshire County District Attorney David Capeless told 22News 51 year old Phap Nguyen pleaded not guilty to the shooting Thursday evening.

State Police Lt. Robert Swift told 22News that Nguyen allegedly shot his stepson 3 times with an assault rifle at 175 Beartown Mountain Road around 5:45 pm Thursday.

This has shaken up the small Berkshire County town.

Andrew Dorr says, “I can't imagine anyone doing this sort of thing to someone in their family, especially in the Berkshires where very is sort of family. “

A 30 year old man who lived at the same address was taken to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield where he underwent emergency surgery. 

According to a BMC spokesperson the person is in stable condition.

It is alleged that Nguyen also shot and killed a dog belonging to the victim.
