(WWLP) - If you’re looking for a romantic place to take your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day, one of the world’s leading financial magazines says you don’t have to look very far.

Forbes named has ranked the Berkshires one of the world’s most “unexpectedly romantic” destinations .

The other destinations on the list were all single cities, but Forbes wrote that there are so many romantic locales in the Berkshires that no one city or town could be chosen. Some of the local landmarks cited include Tanglewood and The Mount, author Edith Wharton’s homestead.

Other “unexpectedly romantic” destinations on the list include Sydney, Brussels, Madrid, and Pittsburgh.

New Englanders, of course, are well aware of the cultural attractions, quaint country inns, skiing, and great restaurants in the Commonwealth’s westernmost county, so the real surprise for people here in western Massachusetts may be that the Berkshires would be considered unexpectedly romantic at all.
