NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (WWLP) - Calling hours for Private First Class Michael DeMarsico will be Friday afternoon in the fallen soldier’s hometown of North Adams.
Those wishing to pay their respects can gather at the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home at 521 West Main Street between 2:00 and 7:00 P.M.
A funeral for DeMarsico will be held on Saturday at the First Baptist Church, located at 131 Main Street, at 11:00 A.M. Burial with full military honors will follow at Southview Cemetery.
In recent days, concerns have been raised about possible protests outside DeMarsico’s funeral. In a statement sent to 22News, Mayor Richard Alcombright said “Funeral plans have been carefully thought-out and include provisions to deal with any threat of protest.”
He continued: “I am asking that all people refrain from any activity other than the continuing outpouring of prayers, support, and encouragement for Michael and his family.”
DeMarsico was killed following an IED explosion in Afghanistan in early August.
