Chicopee man drowns in Three Mile Pond

Man drowns after boat capsized

SHEFFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A Chicopee man is believed to have drowned in a Berkshire County pond Tuesday, after his boat capsized.

State Police told 22News the 67-year old man was fishing with another man on Three Mile Pond in Sheffield when their small boat capsized just before 2:00 Tuesday afternoon.

The victim, identified as Richard Joly , was not wearing a life jacket. His fishing companion, Edward Caisse, 49, also of Chicopee, was able to swim to shore.

The State Police Dive Team recovered Joly's body around 6:15 Tuesday night.
