GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. (WWLP) - The tragic shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, eerily comes on the 20th anniversary of a college shooting spree that killed two people and wounded four more right here in western Massachusetts.

On the night of December 14, 1992, Wayne Lo opened fire on the campus of Bard College at Simon’s Rock in Great Barrington. Using an assault rifle, he shot six people, killing two: a Spanish professor and an 18 year-old student.

Lo contacted the police himself and surrendered. He was found guilty, and the State Supreme Judicial Court rejected his request for an appeal in 1998.

Gregory Gibson, the father of slain student Galen Gibson, had written a book entitled “Gone Boy- A walkabout.” The book received positive reviews from several critics, including from the New York Times Book Review.
