PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) - The Berkshire district attorney is defending himself against criticism that he did not aggressively enough pursue previous cases against a member of the Hells Angels who's now accused of orchestrating a triple slaying.
District Attorney David Capeless tells The Berkshire Eagle his office was diligent in the handling of prior cases against accused killer Adam Lee Hall and prosecuted as much as the evidence allowed.
He also defended his office's treatment of victim David Glasser. He said his office relocated Glasser twice for protection, but both times he returned home.
Hall and two accomplices are accused of killing Glasser and two friends last August and burying the bodies in Becket, to stop Glasser testifying against Hall in an assault case. The suspects have pleaded not guilty.
