NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (WWLP) - Hundreds of people came to North Adams for the funeral of Army PFC Michael R. DeMarsico, a city resident who was killed while serving in Afghanistan.

Mourners, many holding American flags, lined the streets and the front of the First Baptist Church where services were held. The procession was led by the Patriot Guard Riders.

DeMarsico's flag draped coffin was carried in a horse drawn wagon accompanied by military pallbearers.

Governor Deval Patrick and Senators John Kerry and Scott Brown attended the funeral.

DeMarsico was interred at the Southview Cemetery in North Adams.
