FLORIDA, Mass. (WWLP) - Governor Deval Patrick will be in the Berkshire County town of Florida on Monday to celebrate the new Hoosac Valley Wind Farm .

It's a project that has been in the works for years, and it's nearly complete.

Gov. Patrick is calling the project a "milestone" for renewable energy in Massachusetts. When it's done, it'll be the largest utility-scale wind farm in the state, and is second only to the proposed Cape Wind project in Nantucket Sound in sheer size.

19 wind turbines are being built on a mountain ridge that spans the towns of Florida and Monroe.

The utility company N-STAR (which provides electricity for the Boston area and South Shore) will be purchasing all the energy from the turbines.
