DALTON, Mass. (WWLP) - A Berkshire County resident is facing child pornography charges, after federal agents say they tracked files shared on a child porn website back to him.
Twenty-five year-old Jared Sprague of Dalton is being charged with distributing material involving the sexual exploitation of a minor.
According to a news release sent to 22News by the Department of Justice, back in October, federal agents had been conducting an investigation into a peer-to-peer child porn file sharing website. Five of the files were traced to Sprague’s IP address.
On Monday, agents received a search warrant and raided Sprague’s home, where they allegedly found “numerous” files of child pornography on his computer.
According to the DOJ, while Sprague’s home was being searched, he admitted to downloading child pornography.
If Sprague is convicted, he faces five to 20 years in prison, and a fine of up to $250,000.
