PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A hearing will take place Thursday in Pittsfield regarding the fate of the three pit bulls that attacked 9 year-old Perrin Petell earlier this month.

Pittsfield Police Chief Michael Wynn ordered that the three dogs be put down, but the dogs’ owners contested this, causing the hearing to take place.

Police Capt. John Mullin told 22News that the animals’ owners are Lori Rohde and Adam Pollack of 75 Edward Avenue. Petell and his mother lived at the multi-family home prior to the attack, but have since moved away.

The dogs and their nine puppies are currently staying at the Eleanor Soncini Animal Shelter in Pittsfield.
