NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (WWLP) - The city of North Adams is getting ready to pay final respects to Army Private First Class Michael DeMarsico , who was killed in Afghanistan.

The 20-year old soldier died from his wounds after an I.E.D. exlposion. He had joined the Army in Feburary of last year.

On Wednesday, a motorcade carrying the body of Private DeMarsico will stop briefly at Veterans Memorial Park around 12:30 in the afternoon. The motorcade will continue to the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home on West Main Street.

Mayor Richard Alcombright is encouraging residents to line the route to the funeral home, to welcome Michael home.

Calling hours be held on Friday at the Funeral Home from 2:00 in the afternoon until 7:00 at night.

Funeral services will be held the following morning at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church on Main Street. Burial will follow at Southview Cemetery.
