ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The union representing New York state troopers is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man who stabbed a trooper patrolling downtown Albany's state government complex.
The Police Benevolent Association of the New York State Troopers says Tuesday that it has received reward assistance from the New York City-based organization Cop Shot.
Police say Trooper Rodney Smith was working Sunday in the concourse of the Empire State Plaza when he was approached by a man who said he was new in town and needed help. As Smith was checking the man's identity, officials say the man stabbed the trooper in the neck.
Smith is recovering in an Albany hospital.
Authorities say they want to question 18-year-old Eric Green, whose address isn't known.
