Central grads celebrate 20th reunion

A sweet reunion for a high school class with quite a bond.

Central High School graduates from 1989 got together at the Portuguese club in Chicopee Saturday night.

When Springfield Technical High and Classical closed and merged into Central, these students were the first to experience the change.

They were the first class ever to attend for all three years, spending their sophomore through senior years there.

“It was different because they didn't have classes where normal people had classes....but our senior year is somewhat organized,” said Amy Manegre who organized the reunion.

“Everybody had to find their way around. you didn't have one person that knew where everything was, we all had to learn together,” said Scott Barden of the class of 1989.

Money raised at the 20 year reunion will go directly to mothers against drunk driving.

Manegre says that's because their class president died in a drunk driving crash.
