NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Northwestern District Attorney Elizabeth Scheibel said there is evidence that a single man armed with a lighter is responsible for the arson spree in Northampton.

Anthony Baye, 25, of Northampton, was arrested on Monday night and charged with two counts of murder and one count on arson in connection with the fire on Fair Street that killed a father and son, Paul Yeskie Sr. and Paul Yeskie Jr.

The Arson Task Force detailed their investigation in a news conference on Tuesday, which was streamed LIVE on WWLP.com. You can watch the clips of the news conference by clicking on the media player.

While Baye has only been charged with one of the fires, DA Scheibel said that all of the fires are linked. A string of nine fires broke out in just one hour, all near the downtown area, in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 27.

DA Scheibel said they do not have a motive yet, but it appears to have been a random arson spree.

Baye pleaded not guilty in Northampton District Court on Tuesday morning. He faces a maximum of life in prison if convicted.
