SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A Springfield area woman loves dog so much she's just donated one hundred thousand dollars to the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society in Springfield.

Mary Ann Cofrin's contribution will set up a dog training and behavior department at Dakin starting next month.

She told 22News just how important it is to train your dog for its proper place at home, “Well you have a dog that is a family member that behaves within the realm of your expectations. Dogs are our best friends, and I've loved them all my life and I think they give comfort that people don't.”

The dog training at Dakin in Springfield begins next month for animals that have either been adopted here or from someplace else.

If you need more information or to set up an appointment call the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society at 781-4000
