GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Green River Festival is underway in Greenfield.

Saturday night folk legend Arlo Guthrie headlined the show on one the festival's three stages.

Saturday would have been Arlo's father Woodie Guthrie's 100th birthday.

And many concert goers told 22News, it means a lot that Arlo would commemorate this special day right here in Western Massachusetts.

George Mount says “He's a bit of a legend in this apart of the country anyways in Western Massachusetts. And I see a lot of people coming in late, so they're here just for him.”

Woodie Guthrie is most widely known for writing the American classic folk song "This Land Is Your Land."

The festival continues through Sunday.
