GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Test driving a new car at Greenfield High School Saturday will help the school raise up to $6,000 to bring Rachel's Challenge back to the school.
Rachel's Challenge is named after Rachel Scott, the first student killed in the Columbine school shooting. The program teaches kids about how to treat others.
On Saturday, Ford of Greenfield and Ford Motor Company are partnering with Greenfield High School and will donate $20 for every car that you test drive. From 9 in the morning to 5 in the evening, you can go down to the Greenfield High School parking lot, and they will have all the newest, coolest Ford model cars for you to test drive.
This fundraiser is totally free, you don't have to pay anything to drive these cars; all you need is your license.
The school told 22News that it is a great way to get behind the wheel of a new car and to raise money. "They don't actually have to pay any money. And its wonderful public relations to work with someone in our own community, and it makes us feels good that people are thinking about Greenfield High School," Student Council Advisor Angela Mass said.
"It doesn't cost the school anything, it doesn't cost the participants anything, and reap some huge reward for a tremendous program called Rachel's challenge," Chris Pinardi of Ford of Greenfield said.
They need at least 300 people to test drive cars to get the full $6,000. Last year's fundraiser raised more than $4,000 for Turners Falls High School.
