ORANGE, Mass. (WWLP) - Incumbent State Representative Denise Andrews will be on the ballot again this November, after defeating three Democratic challengers for her party’s nomination to represent the 2nd Franklin District.
With all precincts reporting, the Orange Democrat received 48% of the vote, with Rebecca Bialecki of Orange, the Executive Director of the North Quabbin Community Coalition, in second place with 34%.
Former Athol Selectman Jim White, who now lives in Phillipston, received 14% of the vote, while 2010 independent candidate Genevive Frasier received 5%.
"Its kind of hard to explain those emotions," Andrews told 22News. "It's proud, responsible, accountable, ecstatic."
Andrews added that there is a lot of work to do. She will face Athol Republican Susannah Lee and Templeton Independent Richard Schober, Jr. in the November election.
The 2nd Franklin District covers communities in eastern Franklin County and northwestern Worcester County, with a single precinct in Belchertown in Hampshire County.
