GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Whoever said there's no crying over spilled beer might have been talking about the annual Franklin County fund raiser known as the Bartenders Shoot Out.

Bartenders from all over Southern New England compete at Taylor's Tavern in Greenfield. By doing this, they're helping to raise thousands of dollars for worthwhile projects. This year, the money goes to the Wounded Warrior’s organization.

Bar manager Tom Blanchard told 22News just what it is they're doing. “Actually they go out and they slide a beer and the closest one to the edge goes on and moves on to the next round and there's a grand prize.” They also get points for spilling the least amount of beer.

Just remember, it's a fundraiser. Over the years, the bartender's shoot has provided money for everything from the Dakin Animal Adoption Center in Leverett to a variety of programs to help needy children.

The winner was Karl Johnson from Team Nitro.
