Baystate Franklin Medical Center will remain open during nurse strike

24-hour strike will take place on October 5th

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A 22News follow-up on the unionized nurses at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield who plan to go on strike for one day in October.

Chief Nursing Officer Deborah Palmeri told 22News the hospital is developing a contingency plan and will remain open during the strike.

The nurses’ union and hospital management have been unable to come to an agreement on overtime pay and their sick day policy.

The 24-hour strike will begin at 7 a.m. on October 5th.
