GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - There will be two new faces in two Franklin County offices, as Democratic voters have selected a new Clerk of Courts and Register of Deeds.

Greenfield Attorney Scott Cote defeated first-term incumbent Register of Deeds Joseph Gochinski of Greenfield. Cote now has no Republican or third-party opposition on the November ballot. He received 68% of the vote to Gochinski’s 32%.

In the Clerk of Courts race, First Assistant Clerk Susan Emond of Bernardston defeated Greenfield lawyer David Roulston. Edmond received 76% of the vote to Roulston’s 24%. Like Cote, she too faces no official opposition in the general election.

The Clerk of Courts seat became open following the announcement by Clerk Eve Blakeslee that she is retiring.
