GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Customers are placing orders with Elizabeth Moore of Andy's and the Oak Shoppe in Greenfield to take advantage of this weekend's sale tax holiday. Some of those customers are from New Hampshire. Moore says they are getting what they can't get on their side of the state line.

“We're a unique shop The shops In our area of Greenfield are unique,” she said.

“A lot of the customers will come to Massachusetts and save a lot on these unique products with or without the tax.”

David Adams of Hadley told 22News that he's saved quite a lot of money shopping here during the tax free weekends

“Hundreds of dollars, a couple of hundred, three hundred dollars just in tax, which is significant. In this economy, every ten dollars I can save, I can use,” he said.

Gene LaCoy, owner of The Music Store in Greenfield remembers one customer saving hundreds of dollars on a major equipment purchase during a sales tax weekend a few years ago.

“I think back that was 5 percent, now it's six and a quarter. So now with a few thousand dollar sale, you save quite a bit,” LaCoy said.

Greenfield shoppers say that with gas prices so high, there's hardly any incentive to shop in New Hampshire for any reason during the tax-free weekend.
