FRANKLIN, MA (WWLP) - Franklin county foliage along the Mohawk trail was good during the Columbus day weekend.

22News storm team meteorologist Nick Bannin said  it'll be even better this coming week.

That's welcome news for the many Mohawk trail merchants who depend on peak or near peak color to attract travelers.

Kim Stevens told 22news "It doesn't usually happen like this. We've only been open for a couple of years, usually we have one big weekend. And that's it and this looks like it could be two big weekends."

Nick Bannin expects the foliage to be this weekend and leaf colors to reach their peak just a few days later.
