GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - More than 100 middle and high school students gathered in Greenfield Thursday to take part in the Youth Conference to Prevent Underage Drinking.
The event is the first event of its kind, and is sponsored by the office of Northwestern District Attorney David Sullivan . At the conference, students are attending workshops designed to focus on prevention and intervention regarding drug, alcohol, and tobacco use.
Some student organizations have prepared presentations for the other students. They are also creating their own public service announcements to be shown at school and on their town's public access stations.
The students hope to both learn and share information that could save someone's life.
"I came here because I thought it would be fun. I'd be able to meet new people, see new people and teach other kids about what's going on in our school," Jay Raucher of Easthampton High School said.
