GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A Greenfield gas station is still closed after a gasoline leak was found at one of the manholes on the property.
The Shell station on the Mohawk Trail closed around 7:00 Sunday night, after Fire Capt. Andrew Garvin says the leak was found.
Catherine Skiba, regional spokesperson for the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, told 22News that the leak has been contained to the area of the gas station. Booms were set up at a nearby brook after gasoline was found there. The measure has prevented further contamination, and she says that the public should not be concerned.
Skiba told 22News that the leak's source was determined to be a gas line, which is currently being repaired.
