GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Greenfield Winter Fare Farmer's market brought out the crowds Saturday to buy what local farmers were selling.
The Greenfield high school gymnasium was packed with winter produce and with the customers who came there to buy.
Cold weather farmer's markets have grown in popularity, not just in Franklin County but in Hampshire and Hampden counties as well.
Customers were quick to tell 22News the source of that popularity.
Trey McCain said, “Well it's a lot of fresh food, a lot of different specialty products you can't find in a supermarket. It's also been a great chance to connect with people in our community.”
“I just love the community that goes on here. I know that when I come here, I'm going to see people from all different areas of my life, temple Israel to women that I run with and bike with,” said Janice Sorenson.
These winter farmers markets have become regularly scheduled event just as they are during the warm weather.
The market was preceded by workshops and what's known as a barter fair.
